How do I get a Graphics Estimate?

You can fill out an online estimate request form, email us at service@davetheprinter.com or simply call and talk with one of our team members.

We Have the Design Completed. What File Format is Preferred by Dave?

We prefer PDFs (Portable Document Format) with a minimum of 1/8” bleed and crop marks. Most office and design programs allow you to save or export your files into a PDF format. Occasionally, the original file may be needed if artwork edits are required. Having problems saving your files, give us a call, we can help!

How Long to Have my Project Designed and Printed?

Graphic Design is a hard one to predict. Depending on the project it may be just one day or a week or more. We would be happy to discuss your needs for the project to get you a more definitive answer. Most Print jobs take from one to 5 days to produce depending on the size, quantity, etc.. Print time starts once approval of proof is received. We are always willing to look into our print schedule to give you as realistic of a turn time as possible at approval.

 

What Resolution do my Photos and Graphics Need to Be?

Resolution for the photos should be set to 300 dpi at 100% of the size to be printed. All the photos should be CMYK instead of RGB so you get the best print quality. Pictures and graphics pulled from the internet are often low resolution, typically 72 dpi or 96 dpi, and should be avoided. Once you have set up your artwork, save as “Press Quality” in a pdf format to get a finished high-quality print file. We may need some of the fonts (see below), or the graphic/photo files to ensure your job prints correctly. We will pre-flight your files and let you know if we need anything additional.

Will the Fonts I Used Come Out Looking Correct?

To ensure your fonts will print correctly, It is best to save them as “Outlines” in your document, and then save that document with a different name to send to Dave. Example: Original file name “Anatomy Flyer”, New file name “Anatomy FlyerOL”. Once you change the fonts to outlines, you will not be able to make changes to your type, so saving as a new file name allows you to make changes to the original document. If the program you’re using doesn’t allow this, packaging or sending us the fonts will work as well.
